Horsemanship Club 2023

An exciting opportunity for current lesson students to experience the horse world above and beyond what is included in weekly riding lessons. We will be meeting once or twice a month for a “workshop” type experience at the farm. We will focus on making new friends, building community, and having fun while we learn. The format will be very different than lessons and will give us the opportunity to dive deeper into things like improving your seat, horse care, riding and groundwork simulations, learning more in depth about a variety of equestrian sports, horse training vs learning to ride, etc. Most HMS club meetings will NOT always include riding. We will be working on skills and concepts, and things that we don’t have time for in standard lessons. We will also be attending different horse events in the area (dressage shows, SHA shows, hunter paces, horsemanship clinics, obstacle challenges, mounted shooting….etc) as well. Some events we will go to observe and learn and some we may ride/participate in. Students may participate in the event when their skills warrant it. The cost of the events varies depending on the event and participation level, workshops at the farm will be $15 per person for the 2-hour workshop. There is a detailed calendar below, and students will need to pre-register to participate.

Lease share — We also have a discounted horse leasing option for students who are wanting to be more active participants in some of the horse shows and rider participation events. For students who really want to show and participate in some of the off-site activities that we will be attending, they will need to be practicing and preparing more than they are able to at weekly lessons or club meetings. So, this partial lease will provide an additional 3 practice rides per week on top of lessons for the student. The cost is $200 per month. Bekah will help match the right student with the right horse, and they will progress their skills, rapport, and relationship together to set them up for success at off-site shows and events! More advanced students may also select one of the more green/inexperienced horses we have and help train/prep the horses for these events and have a "pony project." But either way, it's a development project....developing partnership between horse and human to be successful at different events!

**Students must participate in weekly lessons to participate in the Horsemanship Club.**
